Neurosciencies Area at germans Trias Hospital

 

Coordinator of the Neuromuscular Diseases Unit, functional tests and intraoperative monitoring

 

Graduate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and specialist in Neurology from the Germans Trias Hospital, where he has focused on neuromuscular pathology and functional tests of the central and peripheral nervous system. He has carried out external rotations in the Neuromuscular Unit of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau and in the Intraoperative Neurophysiology Unit of the Hospital de Bellvitge. She has a research sufficiency degree in the doctoral program of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has been the beneficiary of a Riu Hortega research contract of the Carlos III Health Institute of the Spanish Government. Within the framework of this contract, she followed a training program in General and also specific Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (MNIO) of the central nervous system, and did stays in the Hyman-Newman Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York, in the Intraoperative Neurophysiology Unit of Bellvitge Hospital and in the Clinical Institute of Humanitas


Afterwards, it has implemented in a standardized way the MNIO in the services of Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Otorhinolaryngology, General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery of the Trias Brothers. She has been a pioneer in Spain in the application of this discipline for the endovascular treatment of neurovascular pathology. PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) with the project “Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring during the endovascular treatment of acute ischaemic stroke. Study IOMIS” It has been awarded as co-IP and IP competitive research projects funded in this discipline (Fundació La Marató TV3, 2017, Caixa Impulsi Validate i Consolidate 2019 i 2021, NEOTEC 2021 and EIC Accelerator 2022). One of the most relevant milestones is obtaining the accreditation of Clinical Expert Unit (UEC) in neuromuscular minority diseases for CatSalut in 2019.

 

She has participated as a speaker in his area of experience at national and international congresses and in the MNIO module of the Master of Electrodiagnostic Montero-Valls of the University of Barcelona. He is a member of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN) and the Center for Biomedical Network Research on Neuromuscular Diseases (Ciberned-Enm).
